Mark Osborn, Cadmus Group | Senior Associate (Formerly PGE Smart Grid and DSG Program Manager)
Asset PerformiX (formerly Factory IQ) experience with systems integration is world-class where they were doing smart grid projects with my team before that phrase was coined. If you are interested in any aspect of the internet of things (IoT) connecting to your SCADA, EMS or other systems, I would check in with Asset PerformiX. Their training with Microsoft down to the controls experience with a broad array of systems from the factory floor to executive offices is one of the best I have been associated. If you want to improve efficiency or move data across different departments in manufacturing or energy, I encourage you to seek their advice. I have over many years and it has only led to a lot of success and new innovation that benefited our organization.
Jim Baker, AECOM - Energy Program and Technical Manager
Rod's company, Asset PerformiX has been able to blend experience in IT, grid modernization, renewable energy, demand response, and data center experience into an award winning, leading edge virtual power plant network. This was the first "Smart Grid" I know of deployed by any US utility and has won lots of awards. He always "wows" the client in any presentation with his technical and business knowledge. His business model has lots of common sense and proven technologies. As the big players now start to develop their Grid concepts, they are always surprised to discover that Rod has already deployed it several years ahead of them. Rod is one of the best technologists in the utility industry I know, and backs it up with a strategic vision supporting operational excellence. He gets my vote as one of the best developers of intelligent engineered solutions for utility grid DER of the future.
Steve Klotz P.E., Klotz Energy Systems | Utility Power Engineering SME

Rod Parry and his team at Factory IQ have impressed me. The devices that we use today to control and provide history and analysis of processes in the factory or on the power grid have continued to grow in importance and complexity. Rod and his team can wade through this complexity and come up with solutions that are both novel and have been useful to the client over a long period of time. For example, he was asked to come up with a solution for controlling and monitoring a distributed generator network on a utility's distribution system.

The distributed generators were owned by the utility's customers and had a myriad of control system vendors who had installed the controls for these generators. The problem was how to design a central control system that could talk to (control and monitor) all of these geographically disperse generators over a virtual private network owned by the utility. He accomplished this through the use of software products such as Wonderware and Kepware, and the clever programming of the interfaces required. Today, ten years later, the system and program became a utility business unit producing 120 MW on demand power being used by the utility as a critical strategy in their road map as one of the best robust electrical energy supply program that continues to grow to serve more customers.

Dave Hardin, Smart Electric Power Alliance | Chief Architect
